Music festival "Salon music in the Kuskovo's salons"

One could look at SALON MUSIC from two points of view. In the encyclopedic meaning, this expression is a genre of home music making, with repertoire, as a rule, not very profound but rather light and entertaining. Nothing wrong with it, especially on a nice summer evening and in suitable surroundings. At the same time, in salons -- from the residencies of nobility to the most modest dwellings -- there was always a need for sounds of music, and until the arrival of the phonograph at the end of the 19th century, it could only be satisfied with live music making. In our festival, we'll present compositions from various periods which were, or could have been played in salons at various times in the history of classical music.

Wednesday, August 12, 7pm;  "The age of baroque"

The traditional "hits of baroque" -- Vivaldi, Albinoni and Bach -- will be supplemented by two interesting rarities: a Symphony by the King of Prussia, Friedrich the Great (Friedrich der Grosse), for whom Bach composed his "Musical Offering" and who himself proved to be a talented composer, and "Battalia" by Biber.
