Music festival "Salon music in the Kuskovo's salons"
One could look at SALON MUSIC from two points of view. In the encyclopedic meaning, this expression is a genre of home music making, with repertoire, as a rule, not very profound but rather light and entertaining. Nothing wrong with it, especially on a nice summer evening and in suitable surroundings. At the same time, in salons -- from the residencies of nobility to the most modest dwellings -- there was always a need for sounds of music, and until the arrival of the phonograph at the end of the 19th century, it could only be satisfied with live music making. In our festival, we'll present compositions from various periods which were, or could have been played in salons at various times in the history of classical music.
Wednesday, September 2, 7pm; "The age of romantism"
Twelve-year-old Rossini wrote his marvelous Sonatas for Strings when he found himself in a country home with three other musicians and without any music to play. Mendelssohn, at the same young age, was busy organizing and leading concerts, and composed many wonderful compositions for them. There will be works of other great Romantic composers as well.
