Music festival "Salon music in the Kuskovo's salons"

One could look at SALON MUSIC from two points of view. In the encyclopedic meaning, this expression is a genre of home music making, with repertoire, as a rule, not very profound but rather light and entertaining. Nothing wrong with it, especially on a nice summer evening and in suitable surroundings. At the same time, in salons -- from the residencies of nobility to the most modest dwellings -- there was always a need for sounds of music, and until the arrival of the phonograph at the end of the 19th century, it could only be satisfied with live music making. In our festival, we'll present compositions from various periods which were, or could have been played in salons at various times in the history of classical music.
Tuesday, September 8, 7pm; "Gala marathon concert"
At 7PM the bells of Kuskovo's church will signal the beginning
of the concerts -- the guests, divided into three groups, will rotate among the Grotto, the Greenhouse, and the Open-air cage, in accordance to the schedule of concerts, indicated in one's ticket. So, every chamber music mini-concert will be performed three times, separated by short breaks necessary for changing locations, at the sound of the church bells.
After the mini-concerts, all guests and the musicians will get together at the Mirror Hall of the Grand Palace for the Grand-finale
of the festival. The orchestra will be joined by Elena Semyonova, soprano.
