VLADISLAV BEZROUKOV, concertmaster
Vladislav (nickname, Vladick) has been
concertmaster of
the orchestra from day one, having won this position while still a student at the Moscow Conservatory. The son of a well-known Moscow musician, he began studying violin at age 3, and although his childhood aspirations were to become a cosmonaut, music won over. The list of his favorite composers is rather long, and includes such names as Schuman, Rachmaninov, Bartok and Stravinsky. At the time the questionnaire was completed Isaac Stern occupied the top slot among his "living legends", while Mozart and Shaliapin share the honors among his greatest inspirations from past generations.
Vladick has appeared as soloist with the
orchestra many times, in repertoire ranging from Baroque to
contemporary. He lists jazz as the musical genre he enjoys most
after classical, and soccer as a hobby. Vladick also is chief
historian for the orchestra - if one needs to know what was
rehearsed or performed on any given day, in any year, he is the
source for this detailed information.
